{"id":25041,"date":"2025-11-29T06:47:34","date_gmt":"2025-11-29T03:47:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arab-digital-economy.org\/?p=25041"},"modified":"2025-12-16T06:49:50","modified_gmt":"2025-12-16T03:49:50","slug":"the-digital-policies-and-legislation-committee-holds-its-second-meeting-to-develop-an-international-arab-charter-for-digital-sovereignty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arab-digital-economy.org\/?p=25041&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"The Digital Policies and Legislation Committee holds its second meeting to develop an international Arab charter for digital sovereignty."},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"l-shared-sec-outer show-mobile\">\n<div class=\"l-shared-sec\">\n<div class=\"l-shared-items effect-fadeout is-color\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"e-ct-outer\">\n<div class=\"entry-content rbct clearfix\">\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">The Digital Policies and Legislation Committee of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy held its second meeting, chaired by His Excellency Counselor Dr. Khairy Ahmed Al-Kabash, with the participation of a select group of experts and legal advisors in the field of digital economy and digital transformation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">The meeting came as part of the Federation\u2019s efforts to develop <\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\">an international Arab charter for digital sovereignty<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0aimed at strengthening digital governance in Arab countries and ensuring the integration of digital policies with national legislation, in line with international standards and global technological transformations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">The meeting addressed\u00a0<\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\">the review of the initial draft of the Arab Charter for the Digital Economy, as well as its explanatory memorandum<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0, through several key themes, most notably:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Defining digital sovereignty and its legal frameworks<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0to ensure the protection of national data and the preservation of citizens&#8217; privacy.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Coordinating digital policies among Arab countries<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0to promote regional integration in the areas of e-commerce, digital infrastructure, and technological innovation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Data protection, cybersecurity<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0and cybercrime prevention standards in line with international best practices.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Encouraging cooperation between the public and private sectors<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0to support digital transformation projects in the Arab region.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span dir=\"auto\">Mechanisms for monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the Charter<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0to ensure its effectiveness and long-term sustainability.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">During the meeting, His Excellency Counselor Dr. Khairy Ahmed Al-Kabash stressed the importance\u00a0<\/span><strong><span dir=\"auto\">of the Arab International Charter for Digital Sovereignty<\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"auto\">\u00a0as a strategic tool to enhance the role of Arab countries in the global digital economy, and to protect their digital interests and secure their information infrastructure.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">The committee members emphasized the importance of the charter being an Arab strategic tool that enhances the competitiveness of Arab countries in the global digital economy, protects their digital interests, and provides a legal framework that supports innovation and investment in modern technologies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"auto\">The committee noted that the meeting witnessed an exchange of experiences and practical proposals, with a focus on preparing an initial draft of the charter to be reviewed and adopted in upcoming meetings in preparation for its adoption by the Federation\u2019s Board of Directors, in order to contribute to formulating an integrated framework that is consistent with best global practices.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Digital Policies and Legislation Committee of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy held its second meeting, chaired by His Excellency Counselor Dr. Khairy Ahmed Al-Kabash, with the participation of a select group of experts and legal advisors in the field of digital economy and digital transformation.
