The Secretary of the League of Arab States notes the Kingdom’s efforts to strengthen joint Arab action in this field<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

At its 160th session, the Council of Arab Foreign Ministers welcomed the decision of the Economic and Social Council of the League of Arab States to establish the \u201cCouncil of Arab Cybersecurity Ministers,\u201d based on a proposal from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.\u00a0The Council aims to develop and strengthen cooperation, and coordinate efforts between Arab countries in all aspects related to cybersecurity issues. The Council will have a general secretariat and an executive office based in the city of Riyadh in the Kingdom.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The establishment of this council comes as Arab countries sense the importance of Arab regional coordination and cooperation in cybersecurity, in light of the increasing cyber threats to countries around the world that have targeted all sectors, especially vital ones, in addition to the fact that cyber threats have become a threat to the stability of countries and hinder their development plans. The Council will work, among its most prominent goals, to strengthen Arab cooperation in the field of cybersecurity and raise the efficiency of coordination between Arab countries in this field.\u00a0In order to achieve access to a safe and reliable Arab cyberspace, enabling Arab countries and their people to grow and prosper.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

In this context, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, pointed out the importance of strengthening joint Arab cooperation in the security fields, especially in the field of cybersecurity, given that this security field has become a major pillar of the security system, pointing out that it cannot be There is economic development and no social stability, without security for society and citizens.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Aboul Gheit thanked the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its support for Arab efforts in this field, and for working to enhance joint Arab action in the field of cybersecurity.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

It is worth mentioning that this council will address a number of aspects, including considering all issues of cybersecurity and its developments, at the security, economic, developmental and legislative levels, and making the necessary recommendations and decisions in this regard, as well as proposing policies, standards, projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing cybersecurity.
