The Council of Arab Economic Unity held its 117th session on Thursday, June 6, 2024, in Cairo at the level of ministers and permanent representatives, headed by His Excellency Ambassador Muhannad Abdel Karim Al-Aklouk, Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the League of Arab States, and with the participation of Their Excellencies the presidents and representatives of the Arab countries that are members of the Council of Arab Economic Unity. Arab Economic Union, in the presence of His Excellency Ambassador Mohammadi Ahmed El-Ni, Secretary-General of the Council, and with the participation of specialized Arab federations working within the framework of the Council of Arab Economic Unity.

The Arab Federation for the Digital Economy, a member of the Forum of Specific and Specialized Arab Federations in the League of Arab States, participated with a delegation headed by Ambassador/Mohamed Khair Abdel Qader, Secretary-General of the Federation, in the ministerial meeting of the Council of Arab Economic Unity.

The meeting discussed the general policies and the executive plan for the scope of work of the Council of Arab Economic Unity in the next stage. The meeting presented the work project for Arab companies operating within the scope of the Council, and the preparation of the second forum to promote investment opportunities for the public and private sectors in the Arab Republic of Egypt. The topic of the electronic portal for Arab trade was also presented. The Council issued a special decision to complete the updating of the lists of specific Arab federations.

The Council also decided to postpone consideration of the nominations of member states for the position of Assistant Secretary-General of the Council until the next session and to prepare a comprehensive study of the organizational structure of the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Economic Unity. The Council was also informed of the request of the Arab Federation of Accountants and Auditors to host the 60th periodic meeting of the specific Arab federations specialized in Baghdad, Republic of Iraq, in October 2024.
