The Arab Federation for Digital Economy held its first meeting for the members of the Advisory Council, which was formed to provide strategic guidance to the Federation. The meeting was opened by His Excellency Atef Helmy, former Minister of Communications in Egypt and Chairman of the Federation’s General Assembly, who praised in his speech the members’ expertise and their role in supporting the Federation’s vision to advance Arab digital integration and develop strategic plans and policies that support the growth of the Arab digital economy. His Excellency stressed that the formation of this council reflects the Federation’s commitment to dedicating teamwork and intellectual partnership to achieving its goals, noting that the Advisory Council plays a pivotal role in supporting the vision of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy, and gives it additional strength in charting new paths for the Arab digital economy, and developing plans based on creativity and innovation.
His Excellency Dr. Ali Mohamed Al Khouri, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Union, stressed the importance of the Council as a partner in formulating ideas, assessing priorities, and developing Arab projects aimed at achieving sustainable development and building digital capabilities. He pointed out that the members of the Advisory Council represent a pivotal part of the intellectual and strategic system of the Union, and that their presence reflects a real value that contributes to charting new paths for the Arab digital economy and achieving the lofty goals of the Union.
During the meeting, the most prominent projects of the Union were reviewed, including:
– “Arab Food Market”: A digital platform that aims to facilitate the trade of food products between Arab countries and support regional food security.
– “The Arab Platform for Education and Training” : A digital platform that aims to provide specialized educational programs offered by Arab and international universities and educational institutions, to advance digital skills and raise the readiness of the workforce for the labor market.
The members of the Advisory Council commended the Union’s efforts and projects, stressing their importance and role in supporting the economic and social system in the Arab region. His Excellency Dr. Noman Al-Fehri, former Minister of Communication Technologies and Digital Economy in Tunisia, pointed out that the Union’s projects represent essential initiatives, such as the Arab Food Market to secure food needs and raise the level of Arab cooperation, or the education platform as a real investment in the future of Arab youth and enabling them to keep pace with global developments.
His Excellency Iyad Al-Khatib, former Minister of Communications and Information Technology in Syria, also pointed out that these projects represent an ambitious vision for developing the Arab digital economy, especially the educational platform that will contribute to building a new generation armed with digital knowledge.”
The meeting concluded with an emphasis on the importance of collective action and unifying efforts to drive the digital economy in the region, and an emphasis on the commitment to follow up on the implementation of projects that support sustainable development and enhance the competitiveness of Arab countries globally.
