The Arab Union for Digital Economy held a coordination meeting with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Entrepreneurs Association (GBA Union) and the Belt and Road Committee of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong (CGCC). The meeting was attended by His Excellency Dr. Ali Mohammed Al Khouri, Advisor to the Council of Arab Economic Unity and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Union for Digital Economy, along with Mr. Huang Bin, Eric, Executive Vice President of the Chinese Entrepreneurs Association, Mr. Wong Yau-Kar, David, former Chairman of the Hong Kong Compulsory Provident Fund Authority, and a number of senior officials and representatives of the public and private sectors from both sides.
The meeting discussed ways to enhance trade and investment cooperation between the two sides, with a focus on supporting strategic partnerships in the digital economy sector. This is in line with the Arab Digital Economy Vision initiative, launched by the Arab Federation for Digital Economy, which aims to build an Arab digital economy that supports sustainable growth and financial inclusion.
The meeting also reviewed the role of the Chinese Entrepreneurs Association and the China General Chamber of Commerce, and discussed the expansion strategy of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy in China. This includes establishing an official representative office to facilitate cooperation between Arab and Chinese companies and expand the scope of digital projects and joint investments.
The meeting also addressed efforts to attract Chinese companies and senior leaders in the private sector to participate in the Seamless Middle East 2025 conference, one of the most important regional events specializing in digital innovation, e-commerce, and smart financial services. In addition, opportunities for cooperation with Chinese provinces were discussed within the framework of the China Digital Economy Conference, scheduled to be held in the third quarter of this year, as the Arab Federation for Digital Economy seeks to enhance cooperation with international partners to support digital transformation in the Arab region.
The meeting discussed potential joint investment projects that would contribute to boosting Chinese investment flows to Arab countries, particularly in priority sectors such as digital infrastructure, financial technology, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing. These trends align with the Arab Federation for Digital Economy’s projects, which aim to build an integrated digital economic system based on innovation and advanced technologies to enhance productivity and raise the efficiency of Arab economies.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties emphasized the importance of consolidating the strategic partnership and expanding cooperation between Arab and Chinese companies and institutions. This will contribute to achieving sustainable economic development and enhancing digital integration between the two sides. This is part of efforts to achieve the goals of the Arab Vision for the Digital Economy, consolidate the role of the digital economy in supporting national economies, and create new opportunities for growth and investment.
