The Seamless Middle East 2025 Digital Economy Conference and Exhibition concluded yesterday in Dubai, under the patronage of the League of Arab States.
The three-day event was inaugurated by Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. His Highness affirmed that the event stems from the Arab Vision for Digital Economy, launched in Abu Dhabi in 2018, with the generous support and patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. The Arab Federation for Digital Economy continued to consolidate this vision by launching its 2025-2030 Strategic Plan during the event, affirming the UAE’s commitment to leading regional efforts towards a comprehensive and sustainable digital transformation. This vision has been officially endorsed by the League of Arab States, which approved it during the Arab Leaders Summit in 2022.
The event featured distinguished regional and international participation, including more than 800 speakers and 750 exhibiting companies. As His Highness stated in a tweet, “The event reflects the depth of the transformation led by the UAE towards consolidating its position as an international hub for advanced technologies and the beating heart of the Arab and global digital economy.”
His Highness added that the event represents “a pivotal milestone in an integrated development path, established by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, where technology is harnessed as a tool for renaissance, a platform for peacemaking, and a bridge for tolerance, so that the Arab world becomes an oasis of innovation and an effective hub for shaping the future economy.”
The UAE’s sponsorship and hosting of the conference and its activities comes as part of its ongoing efforts to contribute to bridging the digital divide facing some Arab societies. His Excellency Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, noted in his speech at the conference that “the UAE’s model and experience are a unique example to be emulated. The UAE has succeeded in consolidating its position as a driving force in the digital economy and global technological transformation, through pioneering initiatives that include the establishment of the largest artificial intelligence complex in the world outside the United States, and qualitative investments in digital infrastructure and the smart chip industry.”
What reinforces our feelings of pride and honor is that Arab efforts in the digital economy sector are spearheaded by Emirati talent, represented by Dr. Ali Mohamed Al Khouri, Advisor to the Council of Arab Economic Unity and Chairman of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy. He emphasized that the launch of the Federation’s strategic plan serves as a roadmap and operational plan for the next phase, which we hope will bridge the digital gap on the path to achieving further progress and development for Arab economies, which will positively impact our peoples and Arab societies.
