The Arab Federation for Digital Economy, represented by its Secretary-General, Ambassador Mohammed Khair Abdel Qader, participated in the 61st meeting of specialized Arab federations. The meeting was held under the umbrella of the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Economic Unity, and was attended by representatives of Arab federations and institutions active in various development sectors.

His Excellency Ambassador Mohammadi Ahmed Al-Ni, Secretary General of the Council of Arab Economic Unity, stressed in the opening speech that the (61) periodic meeting of the specialized Arab federations represents an important platform for constructive discussion and consultation on all issues and fields related to the work of the federations, which positively reflects on the future of joint Arab action, supporting the common Arab market, achieving economic integration and creating objective conditions for Arab economic unity, stressing that the specialized Arab federations are one of the basic wings of economic development in our Arab countries, as they represent the Arab private sector, which is considered the main artery for moving the economic cycle to achieve real Arab economic integration.

Al-Nuaimi added that despite the availability of all the basic components for establishing Arab economic integration, this experiment is still proceeding at a slow pace. Therefore, the Council of Arab Economic Unity is keen to support specialized unions in every possible way and with available resources, and to place them before their responsibilities and specializations in accordance with the rules and regulations to achieve comprehensive economic development.

On another note, Ambassador Mohamed Khair presented a specialized working paper during the meeting titled “Electronic Payments and Digital Currencies,” in which he reviewed the reality of digital transformation in the financial structures of Arab countries, the rapid global developments in financial technologies, particularly the use of digital currencies, and the future prospects for adopting innovative and secure payment solutions.

The paper addressed the importance of enhancing Arab financial integration, developing digital legislation, and establishing a unified digital infrastructure that enables member states to adopt effective electronic payment systems that support financial inclusion and economic stability.

In its intervention, the Federation emphasized that the accelerating adoption of financial technologies requires clear regulatory and legislative frameworks and joint Arab cooperation in research and development to protect markets and maximize opportunities to benefit from the digital economy.

This active presence comes within the framework of the growing role played by the Arab Federation for Digital Economy in formulating regional digital policies and providing visions that support economic transformation based on technology and innovation.
