Ajman Economy signs cooperation agreement with Arab Union for Digital Economy during GITEX 2024 and honors 34 partners

The Ajman Government platform at GITEX 2024 witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement by the Department of Economic Development in Ajman (DED-Ajman) aimed at strengthening economic cooperation in the emirate with the leading economic entity, the Arab Federation for Digital Economy. The department also honored 34 of its federal, local, academic, and private sector partners.

The agreement aims to unify efforts to promote digital transformation and achieve sustainable development by adopting best digital economic practices. It also aims to study the labor market and measure digital economic indicators. This agreement will empower local companies and facilitate the transition to the digital economy.

In a related context, the DED honored 34 of its local and federal partners during the exhibition, in addition to several entities from the private and academic sectors. This honor came in recognition of the significant role these partners play in supporting economic development projects and promoting fruitful cooperation between various sectors. On this occasion, His Excellency Abdullah Ahmed Al Hamrani, Director General of the Department of Economic Development in Ajman, expressed his pride in signing the cooperation agreement during GITEX 2024, noting that these strategic partnerships represent an important step in promoting digital transformation and economic innovation in the emirate.

His Excellency said: “We at the Department of Economic Development are committed to adopting the best digital economic practices in cooperation with our local and international partners, with the aim of facilitating business and supporting sustainable growth. Signing the cooperation agreement with the Arab Federation for Digital Economy enhances our efforts to develop digital infrastructure, which will positively impact the business environment in Ajman.”

Al Hamrani added: “Honoring 34 of our partners from the public and private sectors and academic institutions reflects the importance of cooperation and partnership in achieving our strategic goals, and we look forward to continuing this fruitful collaboration to support comprehensive economic development in the emirate.”

Al Hamrani concluded his statement by emphasizing that the Department of Economic Development in Ajman will continue its efforts to promote entrepreneurship and support digital transformation in line with Ajman’s economic vision and contribute to achieving sustainable development. For his part, Dr. Abdullah Al Darmaki, Deputy Secretary-General of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy, expressed the Federation’s determination to soon update the Arab Digital Economy Vision, a vision sponsored by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. This step comes within the framework of the Federation’s commitment to developing the Arab digital economy and providing innovative solutions that enhance Arab cooperation in this field and align with technological and economic developments in the Arab region. Al Darmaki emphasized his confidence in the Ajman government’s participation in this initiative, as the development of this vision includes a review of its content by Arab and international experts, which is what we expect from the emirate’s experts and economic decision-makers.

Furthermore, the Federation noted future projects in the fields of scientific research and artificial intelligence that will be announced soon. He expressed his aspiration for the Emirate of Ajman to actively contribute to these ambitious projects, which will enhance the Arab world’s position in the digital economy.

Finally, the Ajman Economic Development Department would like to consider these agreements and recognitions as part of the efforts of the Ajman Department of Economic Development to drive digital and economic development in the emirate and enhance cooperation with its partners at all levels.
