The “Education in the Age of Innovation” Summit concludes with recommendations and winning projects

Abdullah Al Salem University in Kuwait concluded the “Education in the Age of Innovation: Benefits, Challenges, and Functions” Summit with a set of recommendations and the announcement of four winning projects in its first edition.
The summit, which was held with the support of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), addressed various topics, including personalized learning powered by artificial intelligence, data analytics and higher education, challenges related to cybersecurity and data privacy, virtual and augmented reality technologies in education, policies and governance in technology-driven education, and the new perspectives of young Kuwaiti researchers.

The two-day summit stems from Abdullah Al Salem University’s commitment to supporting innovation and excellence in higher education, in line with Kuwait’s Vision 2035, and at a strategic time to keep pace with the rapid developments in the digital environment.

The accompanying panel discussions resulted in recommendations, including the transition from traditional e-learning to fully digital education using existing tools, building secure systems in accordance with ethical guidelines, and applying encryption technologies and strong security protocols, especially in cloud computing services.

In his remarks, the Secretary-General of the University’s Founding Board of Directors, Dr. Adel Al-Hussainan, emphasized the important role of higher education in the modern era and the need to support it with technology to remove barriers between institutions and exchange expertise and knowledge to achieve development and innovation.

For his part, the University’s Vice President for Planning and Institutional Excellence, Dr. Fawaz Al-Anzi, stated that such scientific forums, which bring together a constellation of researchers, speakers, and experts, reflect an advanced academic model in light of accelerating digital transformations and cognitive challenges.

The summit concluded with the announcement of the winners of four student projects. The “Kish” project, presented by Kuwait University, won the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences Award, while the “Stat Cam” project, presented by the Gulf University for Science and Technology, came in second place. The “Halali” project, presented by Zain, won the Innovation Homeland Award, presented by students from Kuwait University. The “threion space band” project, presented by Abdullah Al Salem University, came in second place. The Boubyan Innovation Award went to the “Chatbot” project, presented by the Arab Open University, and the Abdullah Al Salem University Award went to the “Power the Future” and “Plastic Recycle” projects, respectively, presented by students from the same university.
