Dr. Mohamed Osman Elkhosht, former President of Cairo University and member of the Academic Council of the Mohamed bin Zayed University for Humanities, emphasized the strategic importance of scientific research, describing it as the gateway to the future and one of the most prominent pillars of sustainable human development.
This came during his speech at the Seamless Middle East 2025 Conference and Exhibition hosted by Dubai. Dr. Elkhosht noted that the increasing development challenges facing the world today require greater reliance on innovation and scientific research in various economic, social, and technological fields.
Elkhosht explained that the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the development of artificial intelligence technologies impose on academic and research institutions the responsibility of leading scientific transformation and providing practical and effective solutions to contemporary global challenges. He called on universities and research centers to transcend their traditional roles and embrace a leadership role in innovation and creativity.
Dr. Elkhosht emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation between the academic and private sectors, with the aim of transforming scientific research outcomes into products and services of real value that contribute to the development of societies and improve the quality of life. He emphasized the need to reconsider scientific research policies in the Arab world, noting the importance of focusing on the quality of scientific research, supporting distinguished researchers, and providing an environment conducive to innovation, while leveraging successful international experiences and preserving the cultural and cognitive identity of Arab societies.
