The Arab Federation for Digital Economy announced the establishment of a representative office in Hong Kong. His Excellency Dr. Ali Mohammed Al Khouri, Advisor to the Council of Arab Economic Unity and Chairman of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy, stated that the establishment of a representative office for the Federation in Hong Kong is part of the efforts of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy in cooperation with international partners and the Chinese side.

The announcement was made during the Hangzhou Digital Forum, which is being held as part of the Seamless Middle East 2025 Conference and Exhibition at the Dubai World Trade Center.

Al Khouri added: The Federation seeks to expand this presence to include other Chinese cities, such as Hangzhou, to facilitate the implementation of joint projects within the framework of the Arab Digital Economy Vision initiatives adopted at the Arab Leaders Summit in 2022, and to serve both Arab and Chinese sides.

In his speech, Al Khouri emphasized the importance of cooperation and building international partnerships in the digital economy, especially in light of the rapid development of modern technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, robotics, and e-commerce.

Dr. Al Khouri said: “The world is witnessing an unprecedented digital transformation, and no country can achieve the desired progress alone without building strategic partnerships based on trust and mutual benefit. Therefore, the Arab Federation for Digital Economy is working diligently to strengthen bridges between the region’s innovation leaders, international strategic partners, and emerging markets.”

He noted in his speech that the UAE, thanks to its ambitious vision for digital transformation, has become a model for the region, with its digital economy contributing approximately 11.7% of the non-oil GDP, with a target of reaching more than 20% by 2031. He also praised the country’s advanced digital infrastructure, including the high global penetration rate of fiber optic technology and the wide coverage of 5G networks.

His Excellency emphasized that artificial intelligence has become a national priority, requiring knowledge and technological exchange with leading countries and global centers for digital innovation.

The forum was attended by more than 200 participants, including business leaders, government representatives, and digital innovation pioneers from the UAE, China, and other countries around the world, with the goal of international cooperation in the digital economy and opening new horizons for strategic partnerships between the Arab world and China.
