Arab-Chinese Meeting in Hainan to Discuss Digital and Trade Cooperation Opportunities

A high-level roundtable meeting was held in the Chinese city of Hainan as part of the China-Arab Economic Cooperation Forum. Government delegations, Arab and Chinese chambers of commerce, and representatives from the public and private sectors participated in the meeting, which aimed to review cooperation opportunities in the digital economy, smart trade, and innovation.

This meeting was held within the framework of the 11th session of the Chinese-Arab Businessmen Conference and the 9th Investment Symposium, which were organized pursuant to an official circular issued by the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States – Economic Affairs Sector, addressed to relevant specialized Arab organizations.

His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Ibrahim Al Darmaki, Deputy Secretary-General of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy, participated in the meeting, representing the Federation. He presented the most prominent initiatives and projects led by the Federation in the field of building an integrated Arab digital economy. During his remarks, Al Darmaki emphasized the importance of partnership with China, particularly in the fields of artificial intelligence, smart supply chains, and digital solutions that contribute to supporting sustainable development efforts in the Arab region.

His Excellency Dr. Khaled Hanafy, Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Chambers, also delivered a speech in which he emphasized the need to raise the level of trade and investment exchange between China and Arab countries through integration in logistics services and modernizing the digital trade infrastructure.

The meeting witnessed a significant presence of representatives of major Chinese companies operating in the fields of advanced technology, logistics, and smart services, along with delegations from various Arab countries, reflecting a shared interest in building an innovative Arab-Chinese cooperation model based on technology and digital transformation.

These meetings come in light of the rapid transformations witnessed by the global economy and the need to expand the horizons of the strategic partnership between China and the Arab world, particularly in the sectors of the digital economy, innovation, and anticipating the future of global trade.
