The Digital Policies and Legislation Committee of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy held its first meeting via video conference, chaired by His Excellency Counselor Dr. Khairy Ahmed Al-Kabbash, with the participation of a select group of experts and legal advisors. The meeting aimed to develop a strategic vision for developing legislative frameworks supporting the digital economy in Arab countries and enhancing integration between digital policies and national legislation, keeping pace with global transformations in this field.

The meeting discussed several key topics, most notably the development of a comprehensive legislative guide for technological infrastructure, the regulation of digital assets, and the enhancement of intellectual property and personal data protection, in addition to cybersecurity and e-commerce, in line with international standards and regulatory best practices.

Members also discussed the need to coordinate efforts between the various committees within the Union to ensure the integration of digital policies, benefit from international expertise, particularly the European experience in aligning local legislation with global systems, and enhance the ability of Arab economies to keep pace with the digital transformation and achieve sustainable development.

The committee members agreed to compile all digital policies and legislation into a unified volume to serve as a comprehensive reference for decision-makers and relevant entities. The volume is scheduled to be published on the Union’s website after its review and approval are completed.

At the conclusion of the meeting, participants expressed optimism that this joint effort will constitute an integrated legislative platform that supports the construction of a sustainable Arab digital environment and contributes to enhancing legal and investment security, thereby contributing to achieving digital economic integration among Arab countries.
