Malaysia officially activated the National Blockchain Infrastructure (MBI), a government-backed initiative aimed at accelerating the adoption and development of blockchain technology across various sectors.
Powered by Zetrix Network, a layer-one public blockchain network, the new infrastructure seeks to unify the country’s fragmented digital ecosystem and make blockchain-based services more accessible.
Developed by the national research and development center MIMOS and digital services provider MY E.G., the MBI is a key component of Malaysia’s National Blockchain Roadmap. It serves as a foundational layer designed to simplify the creation of blockchain applications across multiple chains, including Ethereum, Solana, and enterprise networks.
MBI aims to support a wide range of applications, from enhancing supply chain traceability and digital identity management, including the MyDigitalID program, to promoting decentralized finance (DeFi) and the tokenization of digital assets.
By providing a neutral and trusted platform, Malaysia intends to simplify the blockchain development process and promote digital inclusion.
Dr. Sat Shukri Imbong, Acting President of MIMOS, emphasized MBI’s role in enhancing national competitiveness and making blockchain technology accessible to all Malaysians.
TS Wong, Group Managing Director of MYEG and co-founder of Zetrix, also hailed the launch as a “milestone” in blockchain adoption in Malaysia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), highlighting Zetrix’s ability to facilitate seamless cross-border and cross-chain transactions. It is worth noting that Masverse, Cookeps, and iTrace were among the first companies to adopt the MBI platform.
