The Arab Federation for Digital Economy participated in the 55th meeting of the Arab Permanent Committee for Communications and Information Technology , which was held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in the Arab Republic of Egypt – Smart Village , with the attendance of representatives from Arab countries and relevant regional and international organizations.

The Union was represented at this meeting by Dr. Ayman Mokhtar Ghoneim , Assistant Secretary-General, who, in his remarks, reviewed the features of the ” Arab Digital Economy Index ,  a cognitive and methodological tool aimed at measuring digital progress in Arab countries and providing a comprehensive picture of the extent of development in sectors related to digital transformation.

Dr. Ghanem explained that the index represents a scientific reference that helps decision-makers develop digital policies based on realistic and comparative data, and contributes to strengthening Arab integration in this vital field.

Dr. Ayman Ghoneim, the union’s representative, reiterated the previous proposal to organize a specialized Arab workshop to explain the methodology of the “Arab Digital Economy Index” and the mechanisms for its use, noting the importance of cooperation and coordination with relevant authorities in Arab countries.

For his part, Dr. Khaled Wali, Director of the Communications and Information Development Department at the League of Arab States, praised the importance of the proposal, noting that the topic would be presented to member states and officially circulated, in preparation for organizing the proposed workshop during the last quarter of this year.

This upcoming meeting aims to present the index as a strategic tool that supports the development of digital policies and enhances government institutions’ ability to measure progress in digital transformation based on unified and reliable scientific criteria.

On the other hand, an agreement was reached, in coordination with the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, to hold a workshop in the last quarter of this year to launch the Union’s initiative on Arab-Chinese cooperation. The Union will provide Arab countries with a smart working mechanism that will support them in proposing their projects and presenting them in a practical, thoughtful manner, ultimately leading to the establishment of Arab-Chinese partnerships and the injection of knowledge, technology, and financial resources to implement these Arab projects and initiatives.
