The Arab Federation for Digital Economy  signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with both the Sanya Yazhou Bay Science & Technology City Administration and the Sanya Investment Promotion Office in Hainan Province, China. The agreement aims to establish a framework for joint cooperation that supports the Arab world’s digital transformation while connecting it with investment opportunities offered by the Hainan Free Trade Port.

The MoU stipulates the establishment of a regional AFDE center within the Science & Technology City to serve as a platform for business engagement and digital development between China and the Arab world. It also includes collaboration on organizing international events in digital economy, culture, and digital tourism, providing platforms for global knowledge and business exchange.

Additionally, the MoU explores the creation of an Arab–Chinese industrial fund to support startups in the digital economy sector and enable their regional and international expansion. It also considers developing modern data centers, including marine centers, to secure cross-border data flow.

The agreement further includes cooperation in establishing a joint research center focused on the digital economy, attracting experts and academics from both sides, and enhancing scientific research and technological development, contributing to knowledge localization and the development of innovative solutions.

Representatives from the Sanya Yazhou Bay Science & Technology City Administration and the Sanya Investment Promotion Office emphasized during the signing ceremony that the partnership with AFDE represents a strategic addition. They expressed readiness to leverage industrial capabilities and available resources to support and develop joint projects.

This cooperation aligns with AFDE’s international strategy to expand partnerships with globally leading technology and digital economy hubs. It also reflects both sides’ commitment to promoting sustainable development and strengthening the integration of the Arab Digital Economy Vision with China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
