A UN official praises the Arab vision for the digital economy and commends the UAE’s pioneering role in supporting digital transformation.

His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Al-Dardari, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, Assistant Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme, and Director of the Regional Bureau for Arab States, praised the Arab Vision for the Digital Economy, which was launched under the guidance and patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, and adopted by the League of Arab States, and which represents a pioneering model in supporting the digital renaissance in the Arab region.

This came in a statement made by His Excellency on the sidelines of his participation in the Knowledge Summit organized by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation in Dubai, stressing that the UAE has established its position as one of the most prominent countries supporting technological development and digital transformation in the region and the world, through the adoption of future policies and innovative initiatives that contribute to building a sustainable knowledge economy.

Dr. Al-Dardari praised the high standing achieved by the UAE in the areas of development in the digital economy, stressing that the UAE experience constitutes an ideal platform from which Arab countries can benefit in developing their digital economic systems, especially in light of the advanced infrastructure, flexible legislation, and supportive environment for innovation and entrepreneurship that the country possesses.

His Excellency added that the Arab vision for the digital economy, supported by the UAE leadership, is a pivotal step in unifying Arab efforts towards an integrated digital economy capable of keeping pace with global changes. He commended the UAE’s active role in supporting development and modernization at both the regional and international levels, noting that the UAE’s efforts represent a model to be emulated in building a knowledge-based and technology-driven economic future.

Dr. Al-Dardari concluded his statement by emphasizing the importance of strengthening regional and international partnerships to support digital transformation pathways, praising the global platforms hosted by the UAE, such as the Knowledge Summit, which allow for the exchange of experiences and the launch of initiatives that contribute to promoting sustainable development in the Arab world.
