During a workshop held during the Global AI Summit in Tunisia, the Arab Federation for Digital Economy revealed the first details of the “Arab Projects Portal” project; a specialized government platform that aims to support international partnerships in digital infrastructure projects in Arab countries, and to establish economic models based on joint ventures instead of traditional models based on purchasing technology.

The workshop was presented by Dr. Ayman Mukhtar Ghoneim, Assistant Secretary-General of the Federation, and Eng. Osama Mohamead, Director of Systems Development at the Federation’s branch in Syria, in the presence of official delegations from Arab ministries of communications and government bodies.

At the beginning of the session, Dr. Ghoneim explained that the new platform is a channel dedicated to ministries and national bodies in Arab countries, through which national projects related to infrastructure and national systems are presented.

He said the goal of the portal is to provide a safe and organized channel for presenting government projects and linking them to qualified international partners, adding: “We must move from the stage of importing technology to the stage of owning it through partnerships that ensure the transfer of knowledge, investment and capacity building within Arab countries.”

The Assistant Secretary-General explained that the portal mechanism is based on establishing joint ventures (JVs) between Arab government entities and experienced global partners. These partnerships would involve the transfer of technical knowledge, direct investment, and the establishment of local business entities operating in Arab countries. He added,
“What we are looking for is a partner who brings technology, expertise, and investment, not a service provider who leaves once the contract expires.”

Engineer Osama Mohamed gave a practical demonstration of the portal interface and the mechanisms for entering and analyzing projects, explaining that the system was designed with high security standards that are appropriate for the sensitivity of government data.

The system allows government agencies to input the technical and financial data for their projects, so that the system can perform the analysis and matchmaking process with potential partners, and provide interactive reports that facilitate decision-making.

Official launch in the first quarter of 2026

At the conclusion of the workshop, the Federation announced that work is underway to complete the technical and security tests for the platform, with its official launch scheduled for the first quarter of 2026.

The Federation believes that the “Arab Projects Portal” will constitute a qualitative leap in the course of Arab-international cooperation, and will contribute to attracting foreign direct investments directed towards digital economy projects, thereby consolidating Arab digital sovereignty and supporting the building of a sustainable economy based on advanced technology.
