The Arab Federation for Digital Economy is holding a coordination meeting with GeSI to discuss ways of joint cooperation in the areas of sustainable digital transformation and the development of the green economy, in order to serve the goals of sustainable development in the Arab region.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency Dr. Ali Mohammed Al-Khouri, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy, Mr. Luis Neves, Global CEO of GeSI, Mr. Tim Feng, President of the Asia Pacific Region, Senior Vice President, and Mr. Tang Tang, Director of the Federation’s office in the People’s Republic of China.
During the meeting, Dr. Ayman Mukhtar Ghoneim, Assistant Secretary-General of the Federation, gave an overview of the Arab Union for Digital Economy, reviewing its strategic vision, the most important projects and initiatives it adopts to support the digital system in the Arab region, and its role in supporting joint Arab action, in addition to international partnerships that support the transfer of technological expertise and maximizing the benefit from digital transformation, while emphasizing the Union’s role in facilitating cooperation between Arab countries, the private sector and international institutions, in a way that contributes to unifying Arab efforts to support the digital economy and maximize its impact on sustainable development under the umbrella of the League of Arab States.

For his part, Mr. Luis Neves gave a detailed presentation about GeSI, as one of the leading global platforms concerned with employing digital technologies in service of the Sustainable Development Goals, explaining that the company includes a selection of the world’s largest companies in the information and communications technology sector, and works in partnership with multiple international entities to develop digital solutions that contribute to reducing carbon emissions, improving the efficiency of resource use, and supporting the transition towards more sustainable economic models.
Mr. Luis Neves also presented the Federation’s participation in an international platform that connects the needs of countries, institutions, innovators, startups, and environmental service providers, with the aim of encouraging innovation in environmental fields and supporting the sustainability of healthy and clean living through the use of advanced technology. The Federation expressed its interest in standards for outstanding environmental management systems and awards for institutions that adhere to environmental standards and support human interests and the continuity of life.
Both sides noted that the meeting provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and explore opportunities for institutional cooperation in the areas of smart cities, sustainable digital infrastructure, and responsible artificial intelligence, in support of the Arab countries’ orientations towards building a balanced digital economy that is compatible with international standards in the areas of sustainability and modern technology.
