The delegation of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy to China held a series of meetings in Shanghai with the leaders of Milliway Microelectronics, a company specializing in the manufacture of electronic chips and microtechnology. The delegation was headed by His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Al-Darmaki, Deputy Secretary-General of the Federation, and Dr. Ayman Ghoneim, Assistant Secretary-General. On the company side, a delegation was attended headed by Senior Advisor Qian Weihua, and included Dr. Chen Xuanmin, Director of Strategy, and Dr. Peng Hao, Vice President.
The meetings focused on exploring opportunities to transfer technology and knowledge in the field of semiconductors to Arab countries, and examining the possibility of entering into industrial and technical partnerships that support the localization of this vital industry, in order to contribute to the development of technical capabilities and integration into the global value chains of advanced industries.
The discussions included identifying the mechanisms and scope of technical knowledge transfer (know-how), in order to ensure the achievement of sustainable added value, in addition to studying the appropriate implementation mechanisms for potential projects.
Proposals were also put forward to form specialized scientific and research groups concerned with building human capacities and developing technical competencies, in cooperation with Arab countries interested in developing the electronic chip industry and expanding its technological infrastructure.
