During its visit to Shanghai, the delegation of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy, headed by Dr. Abdullah Al-Darmaki, Deputy Secretary-General of the Federation, and including Dr. Ayman Ghoneim, Assistant Secretary-General, met with leaders of the Chinese company SEMI-TECH, which specializes in smart manufacturing software and industrial transformation. The meeting was attended by Mr. Yu Hui, Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of the Group, and Ms. Zoe Zhou, Director of Investor Relations. The company works on developing advanced solutions for digitizing factories and traditional production lines through artificial intelligence and automated control technologies.
During the meeting, the delegation was briefed on the company’s key solutions in managing and executing manufacturing processes, production scheduling, and integrating industrial equipment with digital systems. They also learned about statistical quality control systems during operation and production performance analysis aimed at reducing waste and defects and improving operational efficiency. The company further showcased its systems that enable factories to transition to a production model based on real-time data, early warning systems, and precise operational decision-making.
SEMI-TECH is a leading Chinese company in this field, employing over a thousand people, the majority of whom are engineers and technical specialists. This reflects its deep expertise in mechatronics, automation, programming, artificial intelligence, and the management of precision industrial processes. The company focuses on highly complex sectors such as semiconductors, electronic chips, silicon industries, and microelectronics.
The delegation from the Federation affirmed that the company’s offerings represent an advanced applied model for the use of artificial intelligence in industry, where its role extends beyond data collection to supporting operational decisions, improving production quality, reducing errors, and increasing the efficiency of manufacturing lines. The delegation also highlighted the importance of these solutions for Arab countries in their efforts to develop their industrial infrastructure, enhance the competitiveness of their products, and transition from administrative to production-based digitalization within factories.
This meeting comes as part of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy’s approach to exploring leading global experiences in industrial digital transformation, and examining opportunities for transferring and localizing advanced technologies in the Arab region, in a way that contributes to developing productive sectors, raising the quality of industry, and expanding the scope of artificial intelligence applications in the real economy.
