His Excellency Dr. Ali Mohammed Al-Khouri, President of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy, held a meeting with Mr. He Qi, CEO of Huawei’s Campus Business Unit, on the sidelines of the Digital with Purpose Global Summit hosted by Shenzhen, China.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Eng. Victor H. Chen, Chief Green Transformation Officer at the Institute for Strategic Research in the Netherlands, along with a number of specialists. During the meeting, opportunities for cooperation in the fields of digital infrastructure, data centers, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and emerging technologies related to corporate digital transformation were reviewed.
The meeting addressed the importance of data centers as one of the main pillars of the modern digital economy, and the associated requirements related to energy efficiency, sustainability, data security, and the ability to accommodate advanced artificial intelligence applications and large-scale digital services.
The two sides also discussed opportunities for cooperation in developing smart campus solutions, utilizing Internet of Things technologies, artificial intelligence, and energy management, in order to support the creation of more efficient and sustainable learning environments, and to employ digital solutions in managing facilities and services.
The meeting reviewed Huawei’s expertise in developing solutions for communications, computing, digital energy, smart cities, and technical infrastructure, as well as exploring the potential for employing this expertise in projects that the Arab Federation for Digital Economy is working to implement in the Arab region.
The two sides discussed mechanisms to benefit from Huawei’s presence and operational expertise in the Middle East region, in addition to the network of relationships of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy in Arab countries, in order to support the implementation of joint projects and expand the scope of application of digital solutions in the region.
His Excellency Advisor Dr. Ali Mohammed Al-Khouri affirmed that the Federation attaches special importance to data center projects, digital infrastructure, and emerging technologies, as they are among the essential enablers for implementing the objectives of the Arab Vision for the Digital Economy, and supporting the transformation of the governmental and private sectors towards more efficient models that rely on data and smart technologies.

His Excellency added that the Federation is keen to build partnerships with leading global technology companies, based on their role in developing future technologies, transferring knowledge, and implementing quality projects that support digital development priorities in Arab countries.
Both sides agreed to continue coordination during the next phase, through holding technical meetings and visiting Huawei’s headquarters, to complete discussions on cooperation frameworks and to study opportunities for implementing pilot projects in a number of initiatives of common interest.
The meeting comes in the context of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy’s participation in the Digital with Purpose Global Summit, which brings together leaders from governments, the business sector, financial institutions, and academia to discuss the role of technology and artificial intelligence in supporting economic and social development, and building digital solutions with a sustainable impact.
