Shenzhen University in the People’s Republic of China has issued a decision appointing His Excellency Dr. Ali Mohammed Al-Khouri, President of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy, as a visiting professor for three years, after inviting him to join the university, and based on his scientific and intellectual contributions, and his prominent and influential role in developing public policies, the digital economy, digital transformation, and developing institutional practices at the international level.
The appointment ceremony took place at the university’s headquarters in Shenzhen, in the presence of Professor Meng Li, Vice President of the University, Professor Han Xuexian, Director of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, Professor Chen Haiqiang, Dean of the Faculty of SAFTI & SWIFT, Professor Liu Haishan, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Faculty, along with a number of academic leaders and faculty members.
According to the appointment decision, His Excellency Advisor Dr. Ali Mohammed Al-Khouri will participate in developing curricula and academic programs in a number of disciplines related to the digital economy, financial technology, cybersecurity, the digitization of institutions, and e-commerce, in addition to contributing to the design of programs for developing human capabilities, supporting scientific research, academic supervision, and exchanging experiences with faculty members and researchers.
During the appointment ceremony, Shenzhen University indicated that the selection of His Excellency Counselor Dr. Ali Mohammed Al-Khouri was based on his impressive academic and professional record, his intellectual contributions in the fields of digital economy, digital transformation, and the development of public policies and institutional practices, in addition to his academic and research presence at the international level.

The university explained that Dr. Ali Mohammed Al-Khouri has held the position of Professor and Fellow of the British Institute of Technology in London since 2012. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Middle East Centre at the London School of Economics and Political Science, as well as a member of academic institutions and editorial and arbitration boards for a number of international scientific journals and periodicals since 2006.

She added that Dr. Ali Mohammed Al-Khouri had previously served on a number of academic and advisory councils and committees in prestigious educational and research institutions, including Cairo University, Delta University in the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Advisory Council of the Higher Colleges of Technology in the United Arab Emirates, the Advisory Council of the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies in Security and Privacy at New York University Abu Dhabi, and the Educational Council of the Emirates College of Technology.

The university noted that his scientific output includes more than 200 books, research papers and scientific studies that dealt with topics of digital economy, artificial intelligence, governance, innovation, institutional transformation and public policy development, in addition to his participation in preparing strategic studies and reports for a number of international organizations and global institutions.

Shenzhen University is one of the most prominent emerging research universities in China. It was founded in 1983 in conjunction with the establishment of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone. Since its establishment, it has enjoyed direct support from the central government, the Chinese Ministry of Education, and the Shenzhen City Government, to be one of the pivotal universities supporting the reform, opening-up, and economic development process in China, and a model for academic institutions that link education and scientific research with innovation and development.
