The Syrian-Jordanian Forum for Communications and Information Technology was launched in Damascus, in a historic move aimed at enhancing joint cooperation and building strategic partnerships in the digital economy sector between the two countries.
Details of the forum and wide participation
The forum, which was organized by the Syrian Ministry of Communications and Technology in cooperation with the Jordanian Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship and the Jordanian Information and Communication Technology Companies Association (Int@j), witnessed the participation of more than 230 people from the leaders of the public and private sectors. The Jordanian delegation included about 80 companies specialized in the fields of communications, digital transformation and cybersecurity, while about 75 companies and technical experts participated from the Syrian side.
Signing strategic partnership agreements
The forum witnessed the signing of several partnership agreements between the two sides in vital areas, including training and development of Syrian talents, information technology, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. The implementation of these agreements is scheduled to begin on December 8, coinciding with the anniversary of the liberation of Syria.
Ministerial Vision for Joint Cooperation
During his speech, the Syrian Minister of Communications and Technology, Abdul Salam Heikal, stressed that the Syrian market is open to Jordanian companies, stressing that effective investment requires a continuous presence and a deep understanding of the market, and that real success lies in long-term and sustainable partnerships. He pointed out that the technology sector in Syria today needs to adopt modern concepts such as cybersecurity, data protection and digital transformation systems.
For his part, the Jordanian Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Sami Samirat, stressed that the forum constitutes a new bridge to enhance cooperation and a practical platform to explore opportunities for partnership between the public and private sectors in the fields of communications and technology, and the launch of joint projects and investments that serve the interests of the two countries. He added that the presence of the Jordanian delegation in Damascus carries a message that confirms the depth of Jordanian-Syrian relations, which have been rooted in historical ties and common interests.
Parallel Events and Future Cooperation
The forum coincided with the launch of the 11th edition of the “Syria High Tech” exhibition, where the first Jordanian pavilion of its kind was launched in the Syrian market with the participation of 14 Jordanian companies. The pavilion aims to highlight Jordanian expertise in the information technology sector and open new channels of cooperation with Syrian companies.
Discussions during the forum resulted in the development of a roadmap for cooperation covering the areas of digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, financial technology, digital transformation and entrepreneurship. The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association, Fadi Qutaishat, expressed the common ambition to transform the meeting into a clear plan of action and joint projects based on a long-term vision.
