Participants at the closing ceremony of the first Arab Digital Economy Conference held in Abu Dhabi, which began on Sunday with the participation of Minister of Economy and Finance Mokhtar Ould Ajay, revealed that the strategy for transitioning to the Arab digital economy will be presented to Arab leaders for approval at the Arab Summit scheduled for next year in Tunisia, with immediate implementation to begin.
Participants at the conference, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, explained that the strategy includes 50 projects to be implemented over the next 10 years, with an annual financial value estimated at $60 billion, to be provided by Arab government investment funds, with contributions from international entities and the private sector, and with the support of some Arab governments.
The conference included 10 sessions over two days, reviewing the Arab and global reality of the digital economy, artificial intelligence, future cities, healthcare innovation, financial transparency, the development of digital economy policies and legislation, and the digital transformation for sustainable development. During the conference, the League of Arab States launched the Joint Arab Vision for the Digital Economy with representatives of Arab countries attending the launch ceremony on the first day of the conference.
The conference, which was attended by ministers and ambassadors from Arab and African countries, as well as representatives of the United Nations, the World Bank, the Organization for International Cooperation and Development, and the World Economic Forum, featured our country represented by the Minister of Economy and Finance, accompanied by a high-level delegation.
