During the OECD Digital Transformation Working Group in South Korea: The Council of Arab Economic Unity includes experts from all participating countries to the Arab Digital Economy Strategy Review Committee

The Council of Arab Economic Unity met with members of the OECD Working Group in South Korea on October 30-31, 2018, during a meeting organized by the organization and hosted by the Ministry of Interior and Security of the Republic of South Korea, titled “Digital Leaders 2018.”

Dr. Ali Mohammed Al-Khouri, representing the Council of Arab Economic Unity and the United Arab Emirates, presented the joint Arab vision for the digital economy to the attendees and the Council’s aspirations to achieve, given the real opportunities in the fields of digital economy and transformation in Arab countries.

Dr. Al-Khouri highlighted the importance of the participation of Arab and international experts, practitioners, and thinkers in the subcommittee formed by the Council to review the strategy, in order to mobilize the largest possible pool of expertise to develop a strategy that meets the desired goals of Arab countries, strengthens their economies, and improves the living conditions of Arab societies.

The Council welcomed new members from participating countries who joined the Strategy Review Committee during the two working groups, bringing the total number of members to 80 from 55 nationalities with diverse and extensive global experience in the digital economy.

The Council accepted the OECD’s invitation to participate in the Digital Transformation Working Group as part of its efforts to explore global experiences and perspectives on the digital economy, as well as to mobilize relevant international expertise to support the shared Arab vision for the digital economy.
