The Arab Federation for Digital Economy participated in the research roundtable hosted by Aston University in Birmingham, UK, with the participation of a select group of academics, policymakers, regulators and international experts from a number of countries, including the United Kingdom, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, the Sultanate of Oman, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and Indonesia.
The Federation was represented at the roundtable by Dr. Hani Hossni Zurub, Chairman of the Industry Committee of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy, where the sessions discussed one of the most prominent contemporary challenges related to the digital economy, which is how to regulate, recognize and finance intellectual property in light of the development of artificial intelligence technologies.
This roundtable was part of a research initiative aimed at developing policies that support the growth of digital assets and facilitate their conversion into economic value, with a focus on the intersection of artificial intelligence, intellectual property and finance.
The three roundtable sessions addressed a number of key themes, with the first session focusing on unlocking the potential value of intellectual property in the artificial intelligence economy, and participants stressed the importance of developing governance and licensing frameworks to keep pace with rapid technological developments.

The second session discussed the management of intellectual property as a financial asset, emphasizing the importance of developing institutional frameworks and due diligence standards, and expanding cooperation between the legal, financial and innovative sectors.
The third session focused on intellectual property governance in the artificial intelligence economy, and the need to expand cooperation between governments, universities, regulatory bodies and the private sector, in order to contribute to building a regulatory environment that supports innovation, maintains trust and sustainability.
At the conclusion of its participation, the Arab Federation for Digital Economy affirmed its welcome and interest in the international dialogue on digital economy policies, especially in areas where artificial intelligence technologies intersect with intellectual property, innovation and finance, praising the importance of these research platforms in developing the exchange of experiences and formulating future policies.
