The Arab Federation for Digital Economy participated in the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC 2026) , which was hosted by Shanghai, People’s Republic of China, from July 17 to 20, 2026, with broad participation from senior officials, decision-makers, experts and representatives of global companies specializing in the fields of artificial intelligence and the digital economy.
The conference witnessed the announcement of the launch of the World Organization for Cooperation in Artificial Intelligence (WAICO) , with the participation of 29 countries and institutions, in a step aimed at supporting international cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence governance and the development of its applications in a way that serves the paths of sustainable development.
As part of the conference activities, Dr. Hani Hosni , Chairman of the Industry Committee at the Arab Federation for Digital Economy, participated in a dialogue session that discussed the prospects for international cooperation and investment opportunities in artificial intelligence technologies, with the participation of a select group of international officials and experts.
Dr. Hani Hosni also signed a memorandum of understanding on behalf of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy with the Digital Communications Group (DCG) , with the aim of developing aspects of joint cooperation in employing artificial intelligence technologies to develop education, publishing and printing. This memorandum provides cooperative foundations that enable the establishment of strategic partnerships to implement joint projects and initiatives between the Arab and Chinese sides.
The WAIC conference is one of the world’s largest events specializing in artificial intelligence, attracting more than 8,000 scientists, experts and business leaders , with more than 1,400 international speakers , along with more than 3,000 technology companies , while the number of its visitors exceeded 350,000 visitors , and witnessed the review of more than 3,000 innovative products and technologies in various fields of artificial intelligence.
The Federation’s participation in this global event comes within the framework of its efforts to expand its network of international partnerships and build channels of cooperation with leading global institutions, in support of digital transformation, keeping pace with the rapid developments in artificial intelligence technologies, and contributing to achieving the Federation’s vision towards a more integrated and globally competitive Arab digital economy.
