His Excellency Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, met with His Excellency Dr. Ali Mohammed Al-Khouri, Advisor to the Council of Arab Economic Unity and President of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy, in the presence of His Excellency Ambassador Hossam Zaki, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Secretary-General’s Office.
The meeting addressed the efforts of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy in supporting digital transformation paths in the Arab world, and the strategic directions of the Federation according to its new strategic plan for the period 2025-2030 , as an institutional framework guiding its programs and initiatives in a way that supports integration and increases the effectiveness of joint Arab action in the fields of digital economy.
The two sides discussed the priorities of the Federation’s strategic plan, which includes axes such as implementing strategic projects with a sustainable developmental impact, unifying technical and regulatory standards, supporting innovation and knowledge societies, measuring Arab digital performance, and developing a common framework for digital policies at the level of Arab countries .
In the same context, it was emphasized that the proposed programs of the Federation are based on the “ Arab Vision for the Digital Economy ” as a guiding reference and Arab roadmap, which was adopted at the Arab Leaders Summit in Algeria in 2022 .
As part of what can support Arabic content and serve the Federation’s directions, the meeting discussed opportunities to expand joint Arab work in the areas of building digital capabilities, developing digital performance measurement indicators, and implementing initiatives aimed at developing Arabic digital content and raising its competitiveness, including supporting innovation environments and digital entrepreneurship, and developing frameworks for responsible use of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data and cloud computing.
