Ambassador Hossam Zaki receives the President of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy at the Arab League headquarters

His Excellency Ambassador Hossam Zaki, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Office of the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, received in his office at the General Secretariat headquarters in Cairo, His Excellency Dr. Ali Mohammed Al-Khouri, Advisor to the Council of Arab Economic Unity and President of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy.

The meeting addressed a number of topics related to the Arab presence in the global digital economy, and the development of unified Arab frameworks for joint cooperation in the fields of artificial intelligence, open data and cybersecurity, in a way that contributes to supporting the readiness of Arab countries for rapid digital transformations, and supports their competitiveness in the knowledge economy.

The two sides also discussed ways to launch joint Arab initiatives to build digital capabilities, aimed at training young talents and government personnel in emerging technologies, and developing future skills related to digital transformation, in order to support employment opportunities and digital entrepreneurship in the Arab region.

The President of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy reviewed the Federation’s vision for Arab digital media specializing in digital economy affairs, through the production of reliable knowledge content in Arabic, simplifying technical concepts for the general public, and highlighting Arab success stories in innovation and technology, which contributes to raising community awareness and accelerating the pace of adopting digital solutions.

The meeting also discussed the importance of Arab media discourse on the digital economy, linking media messages to development goals and the joint Arab action agenda, in order to reinforce the image of the Arab region as an active partner in the global digital economy and to encourage investments in the technology and innovation sectors.

Ambassador Hossam Zaki affirmed the support of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States for the efforts made by the Arab Federation for Digital Economy, pointing to the importance of the role played by the Federation in formulating common Arab visions for digital policies, and the efforts to coordinate between governments, the private sector and academic institutions.

For his part, Dr. Ali Mohammed Al-Khouri explained that the Federation is working on implementing a package of media and awareness programs during the next phase, aimed at developing Arabic digital content, raising awareness of the opportunities offered by the digital economy, and motivating Arab youth to innovate and pursue technological entrepreneurship.

This meeting came within the framework of the ongoing coordination between the League of Arab States and the Arab Federation for Digital Economy, to support digital transformation paths in the region, and to consolidate the position of the digital economy as one of the main drivers of sustainable development and joint Arab action.
