His Excellency Dr. Ali Mohammed Al-Khouri, President of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy, discussed with Mr. Yang Chao, Deputy Secretary of the Huangpu District Committee in Shanghai and Mayor of the District, prospects for expanding cooperation in a number of strategic initiatives related to the digital economy, innovation, and smart technologies.
The meeting was part of His Excellency’s visit to the People’s Republic of China, which includes a series of meetings with government agencies and leading institutions, with the aim of expanding the Federation’s international partnership network and supporting the implementation of its projects in the Arab region.
The meeting witnessed an agreement between the two sides to proceed with three main avenues of cooperation, including the establishment of an office for the Arab Federation for Digital Economy in Shanghai, exploring the establishment of a Chinese-Arab fund to support digital economy projects, in addition to cooperating in developing a smart platform for robotics services targeting Middle Eastern markets.
The talks also addressed opportunities to benefit from the expertise that the Huangpu region possesses in the fields of financial services, the digital economy, and innovation, in order to support the development of joint projects and open new horizons for cooperation between Arab and Chinese institutions.
Both sides agreed to appoint working groups and contact points to follow up on the implementation of the meeting’s outcomes, and to complete discussions on joint initiatives during upcoming meetings and events, including the Arab delegation’s visit to China in September and the World Artificial Intelligence Conference scheduled for July.
The meeting was attended by Ms. Shen Dana, Deputy Mayor of Huangpu District, Mr. Yang Guowei, Director of the Investment Promotion Office, Mr. Zhang Li, Director of the Data Office, Mr. Shao Chuan, Secretary of the Party Committee of Yueyuan District, Mr. Wu Libo, Deputy Director of the Science, Technology and Economics Committee, along with Mr. Tang, Head of the Sub-Offices of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy in the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Jet, Executive Director of the Federation’s Offices in China, and a number of officials and representatives from both sides.
