In the context of efforts to develop the common Arab vision of the digital economy in light of the rapid changes on the global economic scene and the wide opportunities provided by the technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution to human societies, the Council of Arab Economic Unity of the League of Arab States signed a memorandum of understanding with the Office of Digital Government Services of the Presidency of the Council British Ministers to collaborate in research and development in the areas of digital economy and transformation.

These efforts come after the announcement of the establishment of the Arab Federation for the Digital Economy in April 2018, and the start of planning for the development of a strategy for the joint Arab vision for the digital economy, and the strategy review committees, which include a number of international and Arab experts and practitioners, relevant international organizations, and the initiatives and development projects that will emerge from it in the interest of improving the living conditions of Arab societies.
