Developing an Arabic Strategy for Information and Communication Technology with reference to Common Vision for Arab Digital Economy

The Arab common committee discussed in the meeting number “29” for the working group of developing the Arabic strategy for Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The meeting was held on Monday 2 December 2019 at the headquarters of the Arab League. The discussions were on a number of articles that include updating the general Arab strategy for ICT.

The committee also discussed an article for digital economy in the Arab region and the digital agenda 2030, they also discussed the study submitted by ESCWA and entitled “Perspectives of Digital Economy in the Arab Region”. They also discussed accrediting the developed Arab strategy for ICT, with reference to the common vision for Arab digital economy, which is prepared by Arab Economic Unity Council.

The executive bureau for Arab ministers of ICT have formed a task force that is composed of representatives of those ministries, this task force is appointed to develop an Arab strategy for ICT. The strategy to be developed is to be based on the guiding principles for the strategy of International Telecommunication Union (ITU) as well as other strategies and policies, national, regional, and international.
