During the OECD Digital Transformation Working Group in South Korea: The Council of Arab Economic Unity includes experts from all participating countries to the Arab Digital Economy Strategy Review Committee

The Council of Arab Economic Unity met with members of the OECD working group in South Korea on October 30-31, 2018 during the meeting organized by the organization and hosted by the Ministry of Interior and Security of the Republic of South Korea, entitled “Digital Leaders for 2018.”

Dr. Ali Mohamed Al-Khouri, representing the Council of Arab Economic Unity and the United Arab Emirates, presented the joint Arab vision of the digital economy to the two communities and what the Council aspires to achieve in light of the real opportunities in the fields of economy and digital transformation in the Arab countries.

He noted Dr. Al-Khouri stressed the importance of the participation of Arab and international experts, practitioners and thinkers in the subcommittee formed by the council to review the strategy in order to mobilize the largest possible number of expertise to come up with a strategy that meets the desired goals of Arab countries, strengthen their economies and improve the living conditions of Arab societies.

The Council welcomed the new members from the participating countries who joined the Strategy Review Committee during the two days of working groups, bringing the number of committee members to 80 members of 55 nationalities with diverse and wide global experiences in the fields of the digital economy.

The Council responded to the invitation of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development to participate in the Digital Transformation Working Group as part of efforts to explore global experiences and perspectives towards the digital economy, as well as mobilize relevant international expertise in favor of the common Arab vision of the digital economy.
