Lieutenant-General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior inaugurated the activities of the Digital Economy Conference (Seamless Middle East) in its second session, which will be held at the International Exhibition Center in Dubai from 15-17 April 2018.
On the sidelines of the conference, His Highness received the honorary shield of the presidency of the Arab Union for the Digital Economy from Ambassador Mohamed Al-Rabee, Secretary-General of the Council of Arab Economic Unity, in gratitude and appreciation for the role of the UAE in supporting joint Arab action, especially in the economic and technological fields, and his role in contributing to the success of the initiatives of the Council of Economic Unity. The Arab Federation, in particular, the Arab Federation for E-Commerce.
His Highness toured the accompanying exhibition held on the sidelines of the conference, where His Highness was briefed on some of the exhibits, modern technologies, and the latest technology in the field of e-commerce.
The Council of Arab Economic Unity also announced its intention to prepare and mobilize Arab capabilities and international expertise in order to prepare for a common Arab strategic vision, and will organize an international conference to discuss this strategic vision in preparation for presenting it to Arab leaders during the Arab summit meetings.
The Council of Arab Economic Unity of the League of Arab States is keen to hold the conference in the Emirates to confirm its leading role and interest in joint Arab action, especially in the economic fields and modern technological applications. The Council is organizing the important economic event as a strategic partner for the Seamless Middle East International Exhibition.
Ambassador Mohamed Al Rabie, Secretary-General of the Council of Arab Economic Unity stressed the importance of holding this conference in the UAE, saying: “This conference is being held in light of the great global transformation in the areas of application of the digital economy, whose components have emerged on the global economic scene during the past five years under a great global title, which is the revolution. The Fourth Industrial City, which is characterized by a set of ultra-modern technologies, which is expected to contribute radically to changing the nature of human life on the planet, in pursuit of better management of natural resources, to reach a set of global and societal goals, and to achieve happiness, comfort, security, and human development.
He added, “With a quick look, we will find that the steady development in the field of computer capacity, and the growing capabilities of communications networks, which have become a major and influential player in these global changes, are an original reason for them, as these developments push each other in an integrated and interconnected form.”
Dr. Ali Mohamed Al-Khouri, Advisor to the Council of Arab Economic Unity and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Federation for the Digital Economy, pointed out: “The Council of Arab Economic Unity and its institutions working in the fields of advanced technology and the digital economy sought to activate joint Arab cooperation, unify efforts and direct them towards a set of main goals that are hoped To contribute to the positive impact on the Arab person and raise the levels of quality of life in the Arab region.
Al-Khouri said: “Our goals are based on a number of axes, including supporting Arab government plans towards digital inclusion, and supporting the development of knowledge, legislative and technological infrastructure, respectively. We also seek to support public and private business systems for electronic transformation.
