His Excellency Prof. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities, and His Excellency Dr. Ali Mohamed Al-Khouri, Advisor to the Council of Arab Economic Unity, President of the Arab Union for the Digital Economy, and a number of officials from both parties met via videoconference, to discuss ways of cooperation in the Arab Digital University project One of the initiatives of the Arab Vision for the Digital Economy – a project that was launched at the Digital Economy Conference (Seamless Middle East 2020) in Dubai last November.

The “Digital University”, which is one of the initiatives of the Arab vision for the digital economy, will work as an integrated digital platform to provide free specialized educational and training programs for members of society, whether they are natural individuals or government institutions, in order to grant trainees accredited certificates at low costs and in different languages ​​via the Internet, and as an important and new tool for spreading knowledge and knowledge in all parts of the country. Emerging economies to cover the Middle East, North Africa and West African countries. The digital university is scheduled to start the pilot operational phase from the second half of 2021.

The first phase will include providing free training opportunities for tens of thousands of Arab and African government employees under the supervision of a qualified educational staff to work with methodologies designed according to the latest international standards, in order to raise the trainee’s awareness and way of thinking and encourage him to adopt the concepts of creativity, leadership and excellence and work to develop skills and capabilities compatible with the requirements of the labor market. Moreover, academic degrees and postgraduate studies will be gradually provided to enable those enrolled to complete their education with international quality and standards.

It is worth noting that the Arab vision for the digital economy was announced for the first time at the Arab Digital Economy Conference held in Abu Dhabi in December 2018, an event that was sponsored by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, and the attendance of hundreds of stakeholders, executives and officials In the Arab and African countries and specialists and those interested in economic and technological affairs, the American Harvard University, Cairo University, international organizations, and experts from the United Nations, the World Bank, the International Economic Cooperation Organization, and the European Union participated in its preparation.
