A coordination meeting to discuss ways to support e-commerce and logistics projects in the Arab region

The Arab Union for Digital Economy of the Council of Arab Economic Unity in the League of Arab States held a coordination meeting that includes the Union of Arab Banks and the Global Cooperation for Logistics Services (GCEL).

The meeting was attended by His Excellency Dr. Ali Mohamed Al-Khouri, Advisor to the Council of Economic Unity and President of the Arab Union for Digital Economy, His Excellency Wissam Hassan Fattouh, Secretary General of the Union of Arab Banks, Mr. Gregory Baird, Deputy Secretary-General of the Global Cooperation for Logistics Services, and Mr. Sergio Arzini, President of the International Network for Small and Medium Enterprises – INSME, which It operates under the auspices of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

The meeting included a discussion of a number of important topics, on top of which was; Strengthening cooperation in implementing some of the initiatives emanating from the “Arab vision for the digital economy”, the most important of which are e-commerce and logistics projects between small and medium enterprises, which will benefit the Arab region.

It is worth noting that the Arab vision for the digital economy was announced for the first time at the International Conference on the Arab Digital Economy, which was held in Abu Dhabi in December 2018, under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and the presence of many executives and officials from Arab and African countries The American Harvard University, Cairo University, international organizations, and experts from the United Nations, the World Bank, the International Economic Cooperation Organization, and the European Union participated in the preparation of the “Arab Vision.”
