The Arab Union for Digital Economy signed a memorandum of understanding with the Arab Organization for Communication and Information Technology within the activities of the meetings of Session No. (54) of the Higher Coordination Committee for Joint Arab Action, which is hosted by the Arab Union for Digital Economy in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, from January 23 to 26, 2023 under the chairmanship of His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the League of Arab States.

The memorandum aims to enhance cooperation to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the communication and information technology sector, in advancing the economic development process, providing the best means and practices to meet the needs of sustainable development in the Arab world for a sustainable digital economy, and launching joint projects and initiatives that contribute to the development of communication and information technologies.

The memorandum provides for the formation of a joint committee of representatives of the two parties to agree on the mechanism for implementing joint programs and projects that are agreed upon, and to hold its meetings periodically once a year or whenever necessary.

The memorandum was signed by His Excellency Dr. Ali Mohamed Al-Khouri, Advisor to the Council of Arab Economic Unity, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Economic Union, and Eng. Muhammad bin Omar, Director General of the Arab Organization for Communication and Information Technologies, in the presence of representatives from both sides.
