The Arab Federation for the Digital Economy discusses with its counterpart for food industries the activation of the Arab Food Market project

The Arab Federation for the Digital Economy held a remote meeting via the Internet with the Arab Federation for Food Industries to discuss practical steps for inviting exporters and importers to participate and register in the Arab Food Market platform.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Ayman Mukhtar Ghoneim, Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab Federation for the Digital Economy, and Dr. Haitham Al-Jaffan, President of the Arab Federation for Food Industries, and representatives of both sides.

The meeting included discussing the importance of developing the food security sector in the Arab region, and how to use technology and innovation to display the products of exporters and importers on the platform, with the aim of achieving digital transformation, promoting sustainable development, enhancing digital integration, and providing great economic and development opportunities in the Arab region, as the parties welcomed joint cooperation.

It is worth noting that the Arab Food Market Initiative is one of the initiatives emanating from the Arab vision for the digital economy that was announced in Abu Dhabi in December 2018, under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State – may God protect and preserve him, and it was approved at the summit conference. Al-Arabiya, which was held in Algeria in November 2022.

The Arab Food Market initiative was also adopted by the Economic and Social Council of the League of Arab States, in its regular session No. 111, No. 2375, to establish this market as one of the pillars of Arab food security, and to create more flexible paths to enhance cooperation and economic integration between Arab countries, which in turn will contribute to increasing the momentum of the food movement. trade among themselves, and aims to ensure a smooth flow of goods and commodities between Arab countries, with the aim of achieving comprehensive and sustainable development for all.
