Vice Mayor of Guangzhou, China: Committed to Supporting Partnerships with the Arab World to Implement the “Arab Vision for Digital Economy”

Mr. Chen Ji, Vice Mayor of Guangzhou, China, emphasized the depth and strength of the historical relations between China and the Arab world, praising the strategic efforts led by the United Arab Emirates, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE (may God protect him), and the supervision of Lt. General His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, and Supreme President of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy, to achieve digital transformation in the Arab region.

This came during his speech at the opening ceremony of the Seamless Middle East 2025 Conference and Exhibition in Dubai. He emphasized that the friendship between China and the Arab world has reached an advanced stage of cooperation and partnership, especially after the Arab leaders and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed to build a Sino-Arab community with a shared future during the recent China-Arab Summit.

The Vice Mayor of Guangzhou noted that the city is one of the leading economic centers in China and the world, with its GDP exceeding US$430 billion last year. It boasts an advanced digital infrastructure, including more than 100,000 5G base stations and the Tianhe Xingyi supercomputing system, which supports advanced artificial intelligence applications, making the city a global model for the digital economy.

Mr. Chen Ji added that Guangzhou is committed to strengthening its partnership with the Arab Federation for Digital Economy and activating joint projects within the framework of the Arab Vision for Digital Economy. He announced the acceleration of the establishment of the “Arab-Guangzhou Digital Economy Cooperation Fund” to support the sectors of smart energy, financial technology, digital commerce, and digital cultural tourism.

He concluded his speech by emphasizing that “the digital economy recognizes no borders, and cooperation is the only path to shared success.” He called for international cooperation to build a prosperous global digital society and maximize the opportunities offered by the digital economy to serve a better future for the world.
