Hani Mahmoud: Artificial Intelligence is a Strategic Opportunity for Arab Countries to Achieve a More Efficient and Inclusive Economy

His Excellency Engineer Hani Mahmoud, former Minister of Communications and Information Technology of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vodafone Egypt, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy, emphasized that artificial intelligence represents a strategic opportunity for Arab countries to reshape their economies and enhance their efficiency. He emphasized the importance of adopting integrated national policies that balance innovation and legislation and ensure the responsible use of these technologies.

This came during his speech at the Seamless Middle East 2025 Conference and Exhibition, where His Excellency explained that artificial intelligence has become a vital tool for improving the quality of government services, developing vital sectors such as health, education, and agriculture, and achieving financial inclusion.

Engineer Mahmoud pointed out that Arab countries possess the human and institutional capabilities that qualify them to effectively adopt artificial intelligence, calling for investment in digital infrastructure, developing technical skills, and encouraging cooperation between the public and private sectors.

His Excellency emphasized that Egypt has made significant strides in this field by launching the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy, establishing innovation centers, and developing specialized training programs. He noted that these efforts contribute to strengthening Egypt’s position as a regional center for technology and innovation.

Concluding his speech, His Excellency Engineer Mahmoud called for Arab countries to adopt a comprehensive vision for artificial intelligence based on regional cooperation, exchange of expertise, and the development of legislative and regulatory frameworks to ensure the optimal use of these technologies to achieve sustainable development and economic prosperity.
