The Arab Federation for Digital Economy participates in the launch of the World Bank report on digital transformation in the Gulf

The Arab Federation for Digital Economy participated, via video conference, in the launch meeting of the Gulf Economic Update (GEU) Fall 2025 edition, organized by the World Bank in Washington under the title “Digital Transformation in the Gulf: A Powerful Driver for Economic Diversification”.

The Federation was represented at the meeting by Dr. Ayman Mukhtar Ghoneim, Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy, with the participation of experts and officials from the World Bank and regional and international bodies concerned with economic affairs.

The semi-annual report provides periodic updates on the economic performance of the GCC countries, and in its current edition it reviews recent trends and the path of digital transformation in the region, in addition to assessing progress in economic diversification efforts over the past decade, and analyzing the impact of digital government in supporting growth and enhancing the efficiency of the Gulf economies.

Dr. Ghoneim stressed the importance of the report as a scientific reference that provides policymakers with accurate data and future insights that support digital transformation and sustainable development strategies, noting the Federation’s keenness to keep pace with regional and global digital economic developments.

The event included analytical presentations that addressed the most prominent growth opportunities based on digital technologies, the role of digitalization in enhancing productivity and creating new markets that rely on data and digital services, in addition to reviewing the challenges associated with digital transformation and the need to develop policies and digital governance and to invest in smart infrastructure and human capital.
