The Arab Federation for Digital Economy held a coordination meeting chaired by His Excellency Counselor Dr. Ali Mohammed Al-Khouri, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Federation, and attended by Dr. Hani Hosni, Chairman of the Industry Committee, and Dr. Ayman Mukhtar Ghoneim, Assistant Secretary-General of the Federation, to discuss the role of the industrial sector in supporting the Arab digital economy and accelerating smart industrial transformation.
The Federation had adopted the establishment of a specialized industry committee within its technical committees, with the aim of linking Arab industrial policies with digital transformation paths, and following up on opportunities to employ modern technologies in developing production and supply chains and raising the efficiency of industrial establishments.
The meeting discussed the importance of Arab industry moving from traditional production models to models that are more data-driven, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and automation, thereby increasing the competitiveness of Arab products and opening the way for more flexible and sustainable industries.
The meeting reviewed the importance of digital transformation in the industrial sector and mechanisms to support human capacity building pathways, develop supportive legislative and regulatory environments, and expand partnerships between governments, the private sector, and industrial institutions.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the executive action plan for the Industry Committee was agreed upon, and the General Secretariat of the Federation was tasked with following up on its implementation and providing the necessary support to accomplish its initiatives and programs.
