Vodafone Egypt’s Investments in Technological Infrastructure

Egypt’s digital transformation efforts have not been limited to export targets, but have extended to massive investments in technological infrastructure. Mohamed Abdallah, CEO of Vodafone Egypt, announced the company’s intention to inject new investments exceeding 20 billion Egyptian pounds during the 2026-2027 fiscal year, raising its capital investments by 40% year-on-year, with a focus on developing 5G networks, enhancing data center capabilities, and investing in artificial intelligence applications, cloud computing, and cybersecurity.

The New Data Center Project

As part of strengthening digital infrastructure, the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority signed a licensing agreement with Hassan Allam Digital Infrastructure to establish and operate an advanced data center with investments of $400 million in the first phase, in partnership with A15. This project is a strategic step to meet growing demand for data hosting, cloud computing, and AI applications, and aims to consolidate Egypt’s position as a regional hub for data exchange and digital services, benefiting from its distinguished geographical location and the passage of a large proportion of global submarine communications cables through its territory.

President El-Sisi’s Directives on Cloud Computing and AI

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, during his meeting with the Prime Minister and the Minister of Communications, stressed the need to stimulate investment in cloud computing and artificial intelligence, in parallel with expanding the construction of mega data centers as the fundamental pillar of the digital economy, directing the expansion of 5G network deployment and enhancing the resilience of communications infrastructure.

Expansion of Egypt Digital Platform Services

In the same context, Eng. Rafat Hendy revealed that the number of services provided through the Egypt Digital Platform has increased to nearly 250 services in September 2026, with a target of reaching 270 services by the end of the current year and 400 services by 2030.
