Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Witnesses Launch of e& Group’s Strategic Project to Develop Digital Infrastructure
His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of the Presidential Court, witnessed on October 5, 2026, the launch by e& Group (formerly Etisalat) of a strategic project aimed at developing digital infrastructure capabilities within the country and abroad.
Raising International Connectivity Capacity to More Than 500 Terabits per Second
The project aims to raise international connectivity capacity from about 20 terabits per second currently to more than 500 terabits per second by 2030—equivalent to about 25 times the current capacity—while developing diverse routes to raise connectivity efficiency and reliability and achieve advanced levels of low latency.
AI as the Core of the Next Phase
During the meeting, His Highness stressed that investment in digital infrastructure represents one of the fundamental pillars for supporting the future economy and enabling innovation and advanced technologies, noting that “AI is the core axis of the next development phase.” The project is the first major commitment under the group’s new strategy, which centers on four main business sectors: telecommunications, AI and business solutions, infrastructure, and fintech.
