Abu Dhabi.. The Arab Federation for Digital Economy held a remote meeting via the Internet with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia “ESCWA”, as part of the union’s efforts to enhance frameworks of joint cooperation with various international and regional organizations and bodies to implement the “Arab vision for the digital economy”.

The meeting was attended by His Excellency Dr. Ali Mohamed Al-Khouri, Advisor to the Council of Arab Economic Unity and President of the Arab Digital Economy Federation, and a number of the union’s affiliates. Dr. Nibal Idlebi, Head of the Information and Communication Technology Management Team, attended from the ESCWA side.

The socialite discussed cooperation between the Arab and international organizations based on previous contacts and coordination meetings, and what was agreed upon at the meeting No. (29) of the Arab Strategic Committee for Communication and Information.

It is worth noting that the digital economy is one of the main axes adopted by the Council of Arab Economic Unity, and is being implemented by the Arab Union for the Digital Economy, through the “Arab Vision for the Digital Economy”, announced by the League of Arab States and the Council of Arab Economic Unity in December of 2018, in the city of Abu Dhabi.

The “Arab Vision for the Digital Economy” aims to rebuild and develop the economic systems in the Arab region on sustainable development foundations, benefit from the technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and support joint action efforts to promote and develop the digital economy in the Arab world.
