Dr. Amr Ezzat Salameh at the opening of the Digital Economy Technologies Conference and Exhibition 2021

In his opening speech, His Excellency Dr. Amr Ezzat Salameh, former Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Arab Republic of Egypt and Secretary General of the Association  of Arab Universities,  expressed the appreciation of the Association of Arab Universities to  His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.

He thanked the team, His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, for sponsoring the work of this important conference, which deals with topics of paramount importance in order to achieve development goals in the Arab region.

He said that the world is witnessing rapid technological development, which has directly contributed to making the digital economy the priority of the attention of decision-makers in various countries of the world. Despite the transformation measures towards the digital economy in the Arab countries, it is still much less than the global level and reaches 4% of the national product, while this percentage at the global level reaches approximately 22%, as a result of the weak investment in basic digital networks and infrastructure. Institutionalization based on sometimes inflexible laws and legislation, the lack of use of modern technologies and the rapid development of the digital economy, which contributed to the spread of technical illiteracy.

It also pointed out that the Union of Arab Universities, and in cooperation with the Arab Organization for Administrative Development and the Arab Union for the digital economy, with the support and supervision of HH Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed to develop a digital Arab platform for education and training, in the framework of the “Arab Digital University” initiative, which was announced Anھa in the previous conference, and aiming To support the emerging economies in the Middle East, North and West African countries, by rehabilitating the cadres technically and cognitively.

About the conference

The Conference and Exhibition of Digital Economy Technologies “Seamless Middle East 2021” will be held at the World Trade Center in Dubai and will continue on September 29-30, 2021 under the auspices of the League of Arab States and organized by Terrapin International Conferences Organization.

This year’s conference and exhibition comes after the launch of the Arab Digital Economy Vision initiative in December 2018 in Abu Dhabi, and to complement the efforts of the Arab League in highlighting the role of advanced technologies in building social and economic systems in the region.

A large number of government officials and experts will participate in the conference to shed light on the latest technologies and challenges in the world of the digital revolution, through physical and virtual platforms for remote participation and live broadcasts of events and sessions.
