National Strategy for the Digital Economy

The previous transformations were not the product of chance, but came within the framework of the National Strategy for the Digital Economy, which the UAE launched in April 2022 with the aim of doubling the digital economy’s contribution to GDP from 9.7% to 19.4% over ten years, and making the country a leading regional and global hub for the digital economy.

Components of the Strategy and Implementation Mechanisms

The strategy includes more than 30 initiatives and programs, covering 6 main sectors and 5 new growth areas, with the establishment of the UAE Council for the Digital Economy to ensure implementation and enhance coordination among different sectors, in addition to unifying the definition of the digital economy at the national level and creating a unified measurement mechanism that defines and periodically measures indicators.

Volume of Digital Payments Transactions

Figures indicate that the volume of digital payments transactions in the UAE is estimated at about $60.2 billion in 2025, and is expected to rise to $117.98 billion by 2030, with the number of users exceeding 10.63 million.

The UAE’s Global Ranking in Digital Infrastructure

A report by Standard Chartered Bank shows that the UAE ranks first globally in digital infrastructure, regulatory frameworks, and corporate adoption of digital technologies, with 97% of companies relying on cloud computing and 68% using digital assets—indicators that reflect market confidence in an attractive legislative and regulatory environment.
